Class Descriptions

Little Rock Dog Training Club has offered obedience classes to dog owners for more than 60 years.  We now include much more -- puppy kindergarten, all levels of obedience, agility, Rally, conformation, freestyle.  Our classes are based upon positive reinforcement, with a balanced approach.

LRDTC's volunteer instructors, some with more than 30 years experience, have helped thousands of dog owners to teach good manners and useful skills. We keep up with the “trends,” as well as understand the “tried and true” methods.  Each instructor has earned competitive dog sport titles.  But we would describe ourselves as pet lovers who know the joy of having well-mannered dogs share our lives. Our dogs truly are our best friends.

Our group classes meet for an hour once a week for 8 weeks, four sessions per year; we also offer a 6-week summer session.  LRDTC offers a progressive program, with all classes beyond Puppy Kindergarten and Beginner Obedience having prerequisites.  We help you to build the skills to be a good trainer, a responsible dog owner, and your dog’s best friend.

We limit the number of dogs in each class, and most classes fill quickly.  Applications are taken on a first come, first accepted basis; payment must accompany the application to reserve your space in class.  A completed Questionnaire should accompany each Beginner or Puppy application.  No students are accepted after the second week of a session. Those interested in Advanced class as LRDTC, in all sports (agility, obedience, Rally, freestyle) should start with Beginner Obedience at LRDTC, the introduction to our program of instruction.

The club offers quality training equipment, like leather leashes, to our students at a reasonable cost and will be happy to fit your dog correctly.   After the first class meeting, there will be no refunds of class fees.
All dogs must be free of external parasites (fleas, ticks, etc) and must have written proof of current immunizations for rabies and other legally required vaccinations.  Students should be at least 16 years of age, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.  (If younger, you must have permission of the instructor and Training Director.)

Class offerings vary from session to session. Class descriptions and schedules are below.  Class space is limited; sign-up early. A class may be full prior to any such notice appearing on the website. Should you have questions, please contact lrdtc.info@gmail.com
