Training Overview

Welcome to the opportunity of having more fun with your dog!

With the Little Rock Dog Training Club (LRDTC), you will spend more time with your pet, enjoy your life together more, and make some new friends – both canine and human. The LRDTC is a volunteer, non-profit organization that has been serving Arkansas dog owners for 50 years. We believe that a well-trained pet is a happier pet, and the dogs family is happier, too.

Come join us at our new home and have some fun! As of July 1999, LRDTC is now located at 2004 Harley Lane in Little Rock.  (This is the former River City Gymnastics building.)  It is very exciting for us to be able to offer classes in this wonderful facility designed to provide a fun, exciting atmosphere for our students and their canine companions.

LRDTC offers a variety of classes from Puppy Kindergarten through Advanced Obedience and Agility. Some of the top dog obedience and agility trainers in the country are right here in Little Rock, and they are members of LRDTC. All our instructors are volunteers who are here to help you because they love their dogs as much as you love yours. They have trained and titled dogs at all levels of competition. They became involved in the sport because they enjoy spending time with their dogs and helping their pets learn to tackle new challenges.

Many of our instructors originally came to LRDTC to take one Beginning Obedience class just to solve a problem they were having when Rover would not come, walk on the leash without pulling, or whatever. It was such a pleasant, satisfying experience that they kept taking classes and eventually wanted to share their knowledge with other dog owners who might be having similar problems. Everyone is eager to help any dog and owner work toward a better relationship – that is one of the many wonderful things about our Club.

Classes are for 8 weeks, 1 hour per week, and are open to all dogs, both mixed and purebred. Beginning Obedience is offered at different times to try to meet your schedule needs. Beginning Obedience class is designed for dogs over 16 weeks of age; there is no maximum age limit because you can teach old dog new tricks. Puppy Kindergarten is for puppies 8-16 weeks of age. Don't miss the opportunity to get your dog off on the right paw. It is designed to help you socialize your puppy, bond with your "best friend", and teach some basic manners as well.

We do hope to see you in our next class session, beginning with orientation at the LRDTC building. (This is not considered one of your 8 classes and should be attended without your dog) A map is available on our website..
